No Roof Left Behind

The program we always wanted

For years, Gary and Jesse Curry wondered how they could help the struggling families in their community. As a roofing company, the answer is simple: a FREE roof for a family in need. But how do you find who needs a new roof the most? Who makes the final decision? We pondered this for a while until Gary Curry found our answer; the No Roof Left Behind program.

How the program began

The program was started by two brothers who wanted to help those in need of a roof. Their process was a success, and a few years later, they created a way for like-minded contractors to join in. Through the No Roof Left Behind website, contractors can encourage people to nominate struggling families in need of a new roof. The community then votes for a winner and the winning family gets the brand new roof they need!

We completed our first FREE roof through this program in 2014. Since then, we’ve completed over 13 free roofs.

Ms. Lane's Story

Ms. Lane has lived in her cherished Newtown home for almost 30 years, with her family having roots in Sarasota for generations. She has witnessed her community blossom with activity over the decades. Now retired, she dedicates her time to assisting relatives and friends in need, volunteering in the community, and hosting neighborhood cookouts. Ms. Lane is profoundly thankful to the community for assisting with the critical needs of her home. Her greatest wish was to remain in her beloved home for the rest of her days, and the support she has received is making that possible. During our recent visit to take pictures, she repeatedly said, "Miracles do happen.”

Mary Ann's Story

In Florida, a leaking roof during hurricane season requires immediate attention. Very quickly, a home – the foundation of security for a family – can be ruined. But if you are a senior living on a fixed income, the cost to replace a roof can be out of reach.

Mary Ann was already struggling to figure out how to repair her roof when she got a notice of non-renewal from her insurance company.

In despair but with faith in her heart, she reached out to Senior Friendship Centers for help.

Aware of our Critical Home Repair program, Mary Ann was referred to us for assistance. “It was scary. I didn’t know what to do. I am living on social security and I don’t have the budget for something unexpected. I don’t have savings. So, I reached out for help not knowing what would happen,” recalls Mary Ann. In the wake of the coronavirus pandemic, our Critical Home Repair program is a crucial resource for homeowners like Mary Ann who are living close to the financial edge.

More and more families in Sarasota are one home repair, one unexpected expense away from financial ruin. We reimagined this program since the pandemic struck to be widely available to families that need help… now. We streamlined the application process and reduced the paperwork requirements to shorten the approval process. All with the objective to serve qualified families fast.

This roof replacement was made possible through a partnership with Roofing by Curry, a company dedicated to giving back to the community.
