3 Key Statistics About Solar Roofing

May 15, 2024

Do you want to be more environmentally conscious while also paying a lot less on your energy bills? One of the best ways to do that is by installing solar roofs. Join the many property owners nationwide harnessing the sun's energy for power. Did you know that, according to statistics from PR Newswire, the global market for solar roofing is slated to reach $241.6 billion by 2031 alone? Here are three other key statistics illuminating the current state of solar power and setups for roofing systems.

1. 3.4% of America's Energy Comes From Solar Power

While this percentage isn't as high as traditional energy sources, it shows that more people are finding out about how solar roofs can help them. This is mostly due to word-of-mouth spreading that the installation cost is absorbed by how much they save on their electric bill over the course of time. That 3.4%, which was reported by EcoWatch, should continue to steadily rise over the years.

2. In 2022, Solar Accounted For 15.9% of Renewable Energy Usage

The above figure was also from EcoWatch. In our experience, one of the biggest motivators for adopting solar energy is that it's renewable. As we continue to move toward this model in an attempt to stave off climate change, this is a trend that should continue. It'll be interesting to see how it looks by the time the 2030s roll around.

3. Average Residential Solar System Cost Is Between $10,290 and $20,580

This is, again, a figure from EcoWatch. Here lies the problem with solar. While the government might be dangling tax credits and other things to potential solar customers, that upfront cost makes it hard. If they could make it even more affordable, then we could see it really take off. Technology continues to improve, and if the makers dropped the price even more, then we could see even more people using it.
